Littlestown Area School District (LASD) Board of School Directors voted to appoint Dr. Judith L. Berryman as the next Superintendent of Littlestown Area School District during the Board’s public meeting on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Dr. Berryman is an experienced educational leader who serves as the Assistant Superintendent for the Littlestown Area School District, a position she has held since 2024. Prior to her current role, she accumulated significant leadership experience through a number of positions with Littlestown Area School District and South Western School District. Dr. Berryman served as the principal of Littlestown Area High School from 2022-2024 and as both an Assistant Principal and Principal of South Western High School from 2009-2021. Additionally, Dr. Berryman taught Social Studies in the Littlestown Area School District from 2001-2006, and served as Dean of Students at Central York High School (York, PA), from 2007-2009.
“I am honored to be named the Superintendent of Littlestown Area School District,” Dr. Berryman said. “I have a long and proud history of leadership within the district and have built many strong relationships with students, families, staff and community members that have helped my team achieve success in many key initiatives designed to enhance our district and ensure it meets our students’ needs now and in the future.”
The decision to appoint Dr. Berryman as Superintendent came after the School Board conducted a comprehensive, nationwide search, in partnership with the Lincoln Intermediate Unit, that included opportunities for stakeholder engagement through focus groups and surveys.
“We are thrilled that Dr. Berryman emerged as the candidate whose experience, skills and vision most aligned with the Board and Littlestown Area School District community’s desired profile of its next leader,” said Nick Lovell, Board president. “Dr. Berryman’s demonstrated commitment to the District, as well as her proven track record in achieving successful outcomes for students and staff, makes her uniquely qualified to step into this role and lead us forward together.”
As Assistant Superintendent for the Littlestown Area School District, Dr. Berryman leads districtwide efforts to refine and align curriculum, instruction, and assessment and has played a key role in facilitating communications and planning related to the secondary building project. Additionally, Dr. Berryman has consistently prioritized building strong relationships and collaborative partnerships with stakeholders at all levels of the district, a focus that has helped her achieve success while leading various initiatives and a skill that the Board believes will make Dr. Berryman a highly effective, collaborative district leader.
“Appointing a Superintendent is a critical decision for our Board and community, and we are excited that our collaboration as a team helped us identify a candidate dedicated to our mission of investing in collaborative experiences that inspire and nurture personal growth,” Lovell said.
A transition plan will be developed and information on a timeline for Dr. Berryman’s transition into the role of Superintendent will be communicated with district stakeholders in the near future. For continued updates on the Superintendent Search, please visit www.lasd.k12.pa.us.
