SHIPPENSBURG (Oct. 12, 2019) — The Shippensburg University women’s swimming team started out a two-day weekend with competition in its annual tri-meet against West Chester and host Southern Connecticut State.

The highest place-finish of the night turned in by an SU swimmer was a third-place effort in the 200-yard butterfly by sophomore Bri Joll, who touched the wall in 2:21.51.

400 Medley Relay

Sophomore Tomomi Nakano recorded the lone Raider performance of the night that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard, completing the 100-yard freestyle in 55.98 seconds.

SU had a pair of relays post third-place finishes. Nakano, sophomore Madison Breiner, junior Kayla Sudbrink and junior Mari Reott completed the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.77.

Breiner, senior Gracee Tothero, Sudbrink and freshman Marina Cote finished the 800-yard freestyle relay in 8:32.60.

The second and final day of competition from Connecticut begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.
