In a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game, Bloomsburg University defeated Shippensburg University with a score of 89-78 at Nelson Field House. Shippensburg now holds a 7-14 record overall and 4-10 in the PSAC. Donovan Hill from Shippensburg achieved his seventh double-double of the season with a personal best of 24 points and 12 rebounds, along with three blocked shots.
Bloomsburg, which improved to 4-17 overall and 3-11 in conference play, narrowed the gap for the sixth playoff spot in the PSAC East to just one game behind Shippensburg. Bloomsburg was led by senior Matt Bengel with 22 points and eight steals. Bloomsburg excelled in three-point shooting (41.7%) and free throws (85%), making 10 three-pointers and 17 of 20 free throws. They led 41-27 at halftime and extended their lead to 22 points early in the second half. Despite a late 9-0 run by Shippensburg that closed the gap to eight points, Bloomsburg maintained their lead to secure the win.
Shippensburg’s next game is at home against Millersville at Heiges Field House at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
