SHIP U. Women’s Basketball holds off Shepherd, 74-67

The Shippensburg University women’s basketball team defeated Shepherd University 74-67 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division game at Heiges Field House. Shippensburg improved their season record to 8-11 overall and 5-8 in the PSAC, shooting a season-high 53.7% from the field. They excelled in the first three quarters with 63.4% shooting accuracy and dominated the paint, scoring 46 points compared to Shepherd’s 30.

Senior guard Taja Colbert and senior forward Abbie Miller both matched their career highs with 23 and 20 points, respectively. In contrast, Shepherd, falling to 4-16 overall and 1-13 in conference play, struggled with only 23.1% shooting in the fourth quarter but managed to narrow the lead to four points late in the game. Forward Lamaria Estridge led Shepherd with 20 points.

The game was competitive in the first half, with five ties and eight lead changes. Shippensburg pulled ahead significantly in the third quarter by outscoring Shepherd 26-16.
