Shippensburg Community Park to Undergo Baseball Facility Upgrades

Shippensburg Community Park and Recreation Authority (SCPRA) has received approval to proceed with significant renovations at Veterans Stadium, focusing on enhancing its baseball facilities. In collaboration with the Shippensburg Area Athletic Association, SCPRA is currently seeking funding for the project, which aims for a completion date in May 2025.

The renovation plans include several upgrades to the park’s baseball components:

  • Installation of an all-dirt infield
  • Replacement of the backstop
  • Addition of a portable pitching mound
  • Realignment of home plate and foul lines
  • Redesign of dugouts and bullpens
  • Addition of a batting cage
  • Construction of a press box shed

These improvements are designed to support the facility’s capability to host baseball and softball games for all ages, in addition to accommodating various sporting and community events.

For more information on sponsorship opportunities or details on the donation process, interested parties are encouraged to contact the Shippensburg Community Park and Recreation Authority.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
