The Shippensburg University baseball team proudly celebrates the recognition of five of its student-athletes as Division II Academic All-District® honorees. This esteemed award acknowledges their exceptional performance both on the field and in the classroom.
For each of the five honorees, this marks their first career recognition for their outstanding achievements. Let’s meet these remarkable individuals:
- Junior Andrew Chronister (Dover, Pa./Dover Area) is an academic junior pursuing a major in History with a Social Studies Certification. He maintains an impressive 3.85 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) after completing 75 credits. Chronister’s contributions to the team include a .279 batting average in 40 games played this season. With only seven strikeouts in 140 at-bats, he ranks 14th in the nation for the toughest batters to strike out. Chronister recorded 12 multi-hit games and achieved an impressive 11-game hitting streak. His skills behind the plate are evident, having caught 17 runners stealing this season. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 109 hits, 53 runs, and 56 RBIs.
- Sophomore Bryce Herb (Wiconisco, Pa./Williams Valley) is an academic sophomore pursuing a major in Management Information Systems. Herb maintains a commendable 3.60 GPA after completing 43 credits. In 32 games, he showcased his talent with a .302 batting average, securing 32 hits in 106 at-bats. On May 4, Herb became only the eighth player in SU history to record multiple triples in a single contest. Additionally, he contributed 15 runs and 12 RBIs this season.
- Junior Austen LaBarre (Nazareth, Pa./Pen Argyl) is an academic senior majoring in Civil Engineering. LaBarre maintains a remarkable 3.64 GPA after completing 105 credits. This season, LaBarre emerged as a leader in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with nine saves in 30.2 innings pitched, ranking among the top ten nationally. In 17 appearances, he recorded a 3.52 ERA and held opposing batters to a .224 batting average. LaBarre’s performance included 34 strikeouts and only 12 earned runs allowed. Throughout his career, he has exhibited excellent control on the mound, issuing just 25 walks while striking out 95 batters.
- Junior Gabe Stotler (Warfordsburg, Pa./Southern Fulton) is an academic junior majoring in Computer Engineering. Stotler maintains an impressive 3.67 GPA after completing 80 credits. Prior to his injury, he showcased his pitching prowess with a 3.16 ERA in eight appearances this season. Stotler achieved a 3-1 record, including a nine-inning complete game against Slippery Rock on February 25. He recorded 20 strikeouts and allowed 29 hits in 31.1 innings pitched. Stotler’s career highlights include an 8-7 win-loss record, three complete games, and two shutout performances.
- Junior Morgan Wyatt (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin (Radford)) is an academic senior majoring in Exercise Science (Allied Health Pre-Professional). Wyatt boasts an impressive 3.86 GPA after completing 80 credits at Shippensburg. In 34 games, he displayed his skills as both a designated hitter and catcher, maintaining a .262 batting average. Eleven of Wyatt’s 28 hits this season were extra base hits, including a grand slam against Pitt-Johnstown on April 18. He recorded seven multi-hit games and exhibited his defensive prowess with 73 putouts behind the plate.
The selection of the Academic All-District® Team is conducted by the College Sports Communicators, recognizing the exceptional academic and athletic achievements of student-athletes.
These five talented Raiders now join the pool of candidates eligible for consideration for the prestigious Academic All-America® Team, the announcement for which will be made on June 7. Their remarkable dedication and outstanding performance both in their studies and on the field make them strong contenders for this esteemed recognition.
