Shippensburg University Spotlights Alumna Denise Calabrese

Shippensburg University is highlighting alumni entrepreneurs as part of its America the Entrepreneurial campaign, launched in conjunction with the United States’ upcoming 250th anniversary.

The latest spotlight features Denise Calabrese, CAE, a 1986 graduate of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and the owner of Calabrese Management, a Harrisburg-based professional association management firm that serves non-profit trade associations.

Calabrese earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Shippensburg University, which she credits with preparing her for a career in leadership and entrepreneurship. Calabrese Management provides management services to non-profit trade associations, including strategic planning, organizational structure, leadership support, and quality management. The firm works closely with association boards to align mission, objectives, activities, and budgets into operational strategic plans used by staff and volunteer leaders.

In addition to being featured in the America the Entrepreneurial campaign, Calabrese Management will mark its 25th anniversary in 2026. The milestone reflects 25 years of operation under Calabrese’s ownership within the association management field.

The America the Entrepreneurial campaign is part of broader America250 and America250PA initiatives, which recognize innovation, entrepreneurship, and community engagement connected to the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
