Corey Starliper is D.L. Martin Company‘s Employee of the Month for October.
Corey is a Maintenance Technician who lives in Mercersburg and has been with the company for 6 years. His supervisor, Doug Witmer, is the Maintenance Manager who has been with D.L. Martin Co. for 41 years.
To eliminate the need to empty a 5-gallon pail of coolant into the chip hopper, and to reduce coolant usage and waste disposal costs, Corey suggested installing a sump pump on the Mazak FH-8800 Horizontal Machining Center so coolant from the tool changer is returned to the coolant tank for reuse. In addition, to reduce coolant usage and disposal costs on the Sundstrand Grinder, the sump pump hose was rerouted from the swarf hopper to the coolant tank so the coolant can be reused.
The company also recognizes Sam Gordon, John Heinbaugh, Harry Landis, Owen Slates and Ken Valle for their suggestions implemented through the company’s Continual Improvement Program in October.
