Stephen M Walter, age 64, of Landisburg died tragically and unexpectedly on the day before his birthday, June 16, 2022.

Fondly known as “Grizz”, he was born in Lewistown on June 17, 1957 to the late Richard Maxwell and Nina (Daubert) Lantz of East Berlin. 

Grizz was a doting and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. 

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Bonita (Gingrich) Walter; two sons:  Westley (Tawnya) Walter of Carlisle and Michael (Tara) Walter-Cantu of San Antonio, TX; three granddaughters:  Abbagayle, Kendra, and Michaela; and two siblings:  Beth (Randy) Travitz of East Berlin and Tim (Carol) Walter of Carlisle.

After high school, Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.  While in the service, he earned the Air Force Good Conduct Medal for service November 1975 through November 1978.  After returning home, he joined IBM as a computer specialist – where he spent the next thirty years.  He received the IBM Means Service Award in 1986. 

His passions (after his family) were photography, creating leather guitar straps, and woodworking.  He was a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23 in the newly renovated chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc.  The Gathering of Friends will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.  The Memorial Service will begin promptly at noon and will be officiated by Pastor Bruce Henneman. 

The family has requested all to dress casually.
