Storm Damage and House Fire Keep Franklin Fire Company Busy on Saturday

Photos and information obtained from Franklin Fire Company

On Saturday, July 26, severe weather and emergency incidents kept Franklin Fire Company personnel active across the county.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., thunderstorms moved through Franklin County. Lightning struck a tree in the 1900 block of Philadelphia Avenue, causing part of the tree to fall onto a large propane tank and create a leak. Squad 41 responded and secured the leak before turning the scene over to a service technician.

Later in the evening at 6:40 p.m., Truck 42 and Engine 43 were dispatched to a house fire in the 2600 block of McDowell Road in Peters Township. Upon arrival, units found a second-floor room on fire. Firefighters deployed multiple ground ladders, positioned an aerial ladder to the roof, and assisted with ventilation and overhaul operations.

In addition to handling four total emergency calls, members also participated in a public relations event, all in high heat and humidity.
