Straban Township to Receive $105,000 for Traffic Safety Improvements

Road work

Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33) announced that Straban Township will receive more than $105,000 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Automated Red-Light Enforcement (ARLE) grant program.

The funding will be used to update signs, pavement markings and lighting at the pedestrian crossing at Old Harrisburg Road and Johnson Drive.

According to Mastriano, the funding will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians in Adams County and assist local governments with costly roadway projects.

The ARLE program supports projects that enhance safety, improve mobility and reduce congestion at signalized intersections. Funding for the program is generated through fines collected from red-light violations in Philadelphia and reinvested statewide in traffic safety improvements.
