NWS: Strong Thunderstorms Moving Our Way.

FRANKLIN COUNTY— A strong thunderstorm is expected to move into Franklin County by 12:40 p.m. today, bringing with it wind gusts of up to 50 miles an hour, according to the National Weather Service.

Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm over Willow Hill, moving east at 50 mph. Wind gusts up to 50 mph and frequent lightning are possible, according to the NWS alert received shortly after noon today..

Locations impacted include Chambersburg, Shippensburg, Scotland, Upper Strasburg, Roxbury, Willow Hill, Walnut Bottom, Doylesburg, Fannettsburg, Orrstown and Shippensburg University.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning can occur with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

The storm is predicted to last until about 1:30 p.m.
