The Shippensburg University lacrosse team came up short against No. 14 East Stroudsburg, 17-3, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern division contest Saturday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex.
Shippensburg (1-9, 0-5 PSAC) posted a season-high 17 draw controls and finished the game with a 17-7 advantage over East Stroudsburg (8-2, 4-1). It is the most draw controls by an opponent against the Warriors this season.
Graduate Hannah Seifried (Springfield, Pa./Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr) led the Raiders with two goals and six draw controls.
Freshman duo Ali Pioli (Barto, Pa./Boyerton Area) and Alyssa Krueger (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) each added four draw controls. Pioli also led with four groundballs.
Freshman Sydney Fowler (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) scored her first collegiate goal. Sophomore Sara Vosburg (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Preparatory) contributed two draw controls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Vosburg (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Preparatory) ended the match with nine saves.
East Stroudsburg was led by Emily Mitarotonda and Madison Bagatta who scored three goals each.
Shippensburg is back on the road Wednesday to take on Bloomsburg at 2 p.m.
