The Shippensburg University softball team travels to Quakertown, Pa. this week for the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Softball Championships, scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday at Veterans Park.
The PSAC Tournament home page is https://psacsports.org/tournaments/?id=136. It contains a full schedule, along with live video and live stat links for each game of the tournament. The tournament is double elimination.
The SU Sports Information office will be providing updates on social media during the games that the Raiders play.
Shippensburg’s opening-game opponent is Gannon, the Western Division No. 5 seed, at 10 a.m. The Raiders and Golden Knights did not meet in the regular season, but the two teams did face each other in last year’s PSAC Tournament. SU beat Gannon 6-5 in eight innings after an RBI-double by graduate Hannah Marsteller.
It is the second straight year that Shippensburg is in the PSAC Tournament. The Raiders are 6-8 in the PSAC Tournament under head coach Alison Van Scyoc, who has guided the team to the postseason in five of the six seasons during her tenure in which there has been a conference tournament.
SU is seeking its first conference championship since 2005. The Raiders last reached the PSAC Championship game in 2014.
