Lady Raiders track and field: SU’s Leah Graybill broke school record

SU’s Leah Graybill broke a school record in latest meet.

Graybill (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) broke the 37-year-old school record in the outdoor 200 meters on Saturday to highlight a split squad of the Shippensburg University women’s outdoor track & field team in competition at the Happy Easter Races hosted by Lehigh University.

How it happened

Graybill won the 200 meters with a time of 24.70 seconds, beating 15 Division I competitors and two teammates in Saturday’s race to break what had been the oldest school record still on the Shippensburg University books. The performance surpassed the record of Carlisle native and SU Athletics Hall of Famer Kristen James Furness ’86 (24.81 seconds) set in 1984.

In the open 400 meters, Bruno ran third in 58.89 seconds, and Mastria was one place behind with a time of 59.50 seconds.

Sara McKean (Shinglehouse, Pa./Oswayo Valley) finished fourth in the 100 meters, running 12.83 seconds, and Megan Kendall (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles, running 15.82 seconds. Black placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles after running 1:07.02; Kendall ran 1:08.84.

The 4×100-meter relay of Adriana Baxter (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Northwest), McKean, Williams and Kayla Dalhouse (Middletown, Md./Middletown) posted a third-place time of 50.18 seconds.

In the field, senior Zarria Williams (Mount Laurel, N.J./Camden Catholic (Ohio Christian)) won the long jump with a top mark of 18 feet, 6 inches.
