Health officials testified before the House Democratic Policy Committee Monday about shortages and a “chaotic” distribution of COVID-19 vaccine.

The guidance comes after many schools transitioned to remote learning amid an uptick in COVID-19 hospitalizations following Thanksgiving.
Nationally, about 2 million doses have been administered out of more than 14 million shipped to states, including Pennsylvania.
Her new directive clarifies testing and quarantine requirements for people entering Pennsylvania or returning home after visiting another state.
Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said the first two vaccines could be available as soon as next month. It’s unclear how quickly the supply would reach the state, however.
The new guidance, in effect as of Friday, doesn’t apply to those who work across state lines or travel for medical care, Levine added. And it’s still up to local businesses to enforce the mask mandate.
The new rules limit indoor capacity to 25%, ban bar seating and only allow alcohol sales in conjunction with food service.
‘Break the cycle’ and ‘make a choice’ to leave situations (when feeling unsafe) were Sec.Levine’s advice Monday.
Wolf announced Friday that 12 more Pennsylvania counties will move to yellow May 22, including the rest of Franklin’s neighbors. Franklin was not on that list.
DOH says 41 residents in five Franklin County nursing homes infected with the Coronavirus. Five nursing home employees have also tested positive to the virus, according to DOH charts.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health today announced 693 additional positive cases of COVID-19 Across the state, bringing the statewide total to 4,087 in 59 counties. One of those is in Franklin County and two are in Cumberland County.
Coronavirus cases soared yesterday across the state as deaths rose to 16 statewide. In Franklin County, cases remain at five. Businesses across the county are closed unless the are on the “life sustaining“ list.
Pennsylvania now has 479 COVID-19 cases, 108 more than yesterday, most of them clustered around the state’s two biggest counties.
As of noon today there are 37 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania, bringing the statewide total to 133. Those infected are either in isolation at home or being treated at a hospital.
