CHEMSWEEP in Franklin and Adams County has a deadline of March 31, 2026.
Producers, applicators, and businesses can participate in CHEMSWEEP, a PA Department of Agriculture (PDA) program: an opportunity to responsibly dispose of the first 2,000 pounds per participant of old or unwanted PA-registered pesticides. This program is often free to participate. Contact PDA with specific questions at 717-772-5210 or email jgcunningh@pa.gov.
The first step in this disposal process is to update your pesticide inventory and make note of which you would like to dispose of, and these and any other details: Product name, active ingredients, EPA Reg No., form code, container type, quantity, size, condition, and total quantity in pounds.
The general process is outlined below.
1.Inventory pesticides to dispose of
2.Enter pesticide inventory online or using a paper log
3.A PDA inspector will contact you to schedule a meeting to verify the inventory
4.PDA will coordinate the collection of pesticides with a contractor (Usually July-October)
5.You meet with the contractor on-site to dispose of the pesticides
Your physical address must be in Franklin or Adams County to participate in 2026. The deadline to submit an inventory is March 31, 2026.
