TFEC: A Resource, Partner for Financial Advisors

The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) has helped donors in the midstate invest in their communities to create lasting legacies for more than 100 years. TFEC continues to serve as a resource and partner to financial advisors whose clients may be looking to establish or grow their philanthropic goals.

“Listening to donors helps us think about their needs and goals and determine how we can help them plan for their legacy in the future. People work hard during their lifetime and they want to steward their earnings the best way possible; preserving a life-long legacy,” says Jennifer Doyle, President and Chief Executive Officer at TFEC. “Donors have so many choices in where to leave their legacy – we are fortunate that so many put their trust in us to help carry out their goals.”

TFEC awarded more than $9 million in grants to nonprofits in Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry and York Counties in 2024. TFEC is proud of their work behind the scenes to connect donors to nonprofits. One of the key differentiators at TFEC is their goal to invest in perpetuity, establishing a true legacy so that a philanthropist’s initial investment can continue to support the community for decades to come.

“When someone makes a charitable contribution,” says Jennifer, “It’s our goal for that initial amount to still be generating income for community needs 100 years from now. We invest so that that the contribution generates additional funding so that grants can always go out into the community in perpetuity.”

TFEC offers customized giving options that range from personal fund establishment with as little as a $10,000 commitment over five years or they can support the community in an area that they are passionate about through a charitable gift of any size; in areas such as animal welfare, early education, environmental stewardship and more.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
