The Tide Your Soles ~ Their Souls Shoe Drive

The Tide Your Soles ~ Their Souls Shoe Drive is nearing the end of its 2025 collection, with about 50% of the 10,000 pair goal already met. Through the generous support of more than 50 collection sites, which includes internal and community collections at many businesses/schools, service-time collections at churches, and countless individuals throughout Franklin County and beyond, this year has been another great success! Special thanks also goes to Cubes Storage Solutions of Chambersburg for their sponsorship of the event by donating the use of a Cube to store the shoes for this year’s event.

You can still get involved in the effort by donating any new or gently worn pairs of shoes you no longer wear. Men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes of any make and style are appreciated, which will benefit microbusiness owners in 26 developing countries around the world through another organization who will pick up the shoes from The Tide office sometime within the weeks following the March 31st shoe drive end date. Following the pick up, The Tide will receive a check for the shoes which will be used to fund their Literacy classes (one-third of which are children’s) to villagers in India who may not otherwise have another means to learn how to read and write in their own language.

Visit The Tide Shoe Drive event page to find a community collection site near you or participate in the Drive Thru, Drop Off event on Saturday, March 29th by driving up to the collection site and a volunteer will collect the shoe donation from your vehicle. The event will be held from 9-noon in the Keller Williams Keystone Realty parking lot located at 1035 Wayne Avenue in Chambersburg. Please enter the parking lot from Wayne Ave.

For questions about the shoe drive or community drive thru, drop off event, please contact The Tide office at 717-264-7288 or events@thetide.org. You may also find updates by visiting or joining their Shoe Drive Facebook Group.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
