Tracy Papa, Assistant Director of the Jeffrey W. & Jo Anne R. Coy Public Library of Shippensburg, has been nominated as the Cumberland County Library System Foundation January 2023 Employee of the Month. From the nomination, Library Director Jody Cole writes, “Tracy wears many hats! She handles technical services and serves as our bookkeeper as well. She serves on Training Services Advisory Team and is our Local Systems Administrator. She supervises the pages, who in turn keep the library in order.”
Briana Crum, District Consultant for the Capital Library District, comments, “I am so glad that Tracy is receiving the recognition of Employee of the Month for January by the CCLS Library Foundation! I’ve worked with Tracy behind the scenes in my role as District Consultant for the last few years, and she is absolutely wonderful to work with! Tracy is my go-to contact for Coy Public Library when delivery issues arise, and we’ve been able to work collaboratively and effectively to keep open lines of communication so that we are all on the same page. Tracy is such a valuable member of the Coy Public Library team, and I am so fortunate that I am able to work with her behind the curtain to bring public library services to the community of Shippensburg – Congratulations on this recognition, Tracy!”
Christa Bassett, Adult Services Outreach Coordinator for the Library System comments, “One of Tracy’s many behind-the-scenes roles is serving as Coy Library contact for the STAR program. STAR – Service to (Homebound) Adult Readers – partners trained volunteers with homebound residents to provide library materials and companionship. STAR also stocks 19 self-serve mini libraries at assisted living facilities, senior centers, and senior apartments throughout the County. As the local library contact, Tracy always provides warm hospitality to our STAR volunteers who base their volunteer work from Coy Library.”
Tracy Papa, with her 18 years of service to Coy Public Library, is a go-to person for organizational history. With her, the library has weathered many storms, figuratively and literally, and made it through more than one construction project. Tracy is a crucial part of the Coy Library team.
