A fatal motor vehicle crash occurred in the early morning hours on I-81 near the 5.8 mile marker in Antrim Township, Franklin County, resulting in the deaths of two young individuals from Hagerstown, MD.
At 1:54 AM on August 21, 2024, Pennsylvania State Police from the Chambersburg station were dispatched to the scene where a 2012 Infiniti G37, traveling southbound, lost control. The vehicle subsequently veered off the roadway, rolling over several times and ejecting four passengers in the process.
Diamonte Drequan Disney, 25, and Tiheen Justice Nathaniel Matthews, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin County Coroner. Two other passengers sustained major injuries and were transported to Meritus Medical Center for further medical evaluation and care.
The vehicle sustained significant damage and was removed from the scene by Dave Shockey Auto Body. Emergency services including Greencastle Fire & EMS, Marion Fire & EMS, Wellspan EMS, and Chambersburg EMS were present at the scene, alongside Franklin Fire Police and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the crash as the community mourns the loss of two young lives. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.
