Two Men Sentenced for $70,000 Theft from Cumberland County Storage Units

In a recent conclusion to a burglary case in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, two men have been sentenced for their involvement in the theft of approximately $70,000 from storage units. The incident occurred on June 16th, 2023, at a U-Haul facility located at 4725 Gettysburg Road in Lower Allen Township.

The Lower Allen Township Police were called to the scene at 1:24 p.m., following a report of a non-active burglary where locks were cut off three storage units. A customer reported a significant sum of U.S. currency missing from a tote within one of the units, and an estranged family member was initially suspected.

After thorough investigation, police identified Daniel Brown and Matthew Reiff as the perpetrators. It was discovered that the duo had cut a hole in a nearby fence to gain access to the property and subsequently stole the cash from the storage unit.

On Thursday, Brown pled guilty and received a sentence ranging from 6 months to 23 months in Cumberland County Prison. Earlier, in February 2024, Reiff was sentenced to 9 months to nearly 2 years in prison, followed by three years of probation.

The arrests and subsequent sentencings mark the resolution of a case that involved significant investigative efforts to track down and prosecute the individuals responsible for the theft.
