One of the most exciting networking events in Franklin County, the Community Information Expo, will take place next Thursday, October 13,from 10 am to 2 pm, at the Chambersburg Recreation Center. Admission and parking are free, and the event is open to the public.
Hosted by United Way of Franklin County (UWFC), in partnership with the Franklin County Community Forum (FCCF), this year marks the 26th anniversary of this public awareness gathering. The Community Info Expo is designed to be both engaging and educational, bringing together the community-at-large and local businesses and nonprofit organizations who provide benefits and services to Franklin County residents. Featuring interactive vendor booths, prize giveaways, and the Redneck Hotdogs food truck, the day is certain to offer something for everyone.
Back from Pause During Pandemic
The Community Info Expo, formerly known as the “Human Services Expo,” was facilitated annually by the Franklin County Community Forum prior to 2022. However, like many public gatherings, the pandemic forced the FCCF to press pause from 2020-2021. This year, in partnership with the FCCF, UWFC is bringing the event back to the county, under their umbrella of community services.
“Following two years of restrained activity, there is an elevated level of energy and excitement for this year’s Expo. We have nearly 50 vendors registered, multiple doorprize giveaways, and a wide variety of information and resources available for our Franklin County community,” says Amy Hicks, Executive Director of United Way of Franklin County. “A food truck will be positioned in front of the Rec Center, making it easy to stop for lunch, visit our event, interact with vendors, and learn about what makes Franklin County such a wonderful place to live. It’s going to be a great day!”
Parking for the event is free and can be accessed from the S 3rd Street and S. Harrison Avenue entrances. Handicap parking available and entrance ramps are located on the south side of the building. Spanish translation will be provided.
