SHIPPENSBURG — A 24-year-old patron of a local bar could be facing criminal charges today if his brother hadn’t stepped in and fixed his legal problems.
The man walked out on a $34 bar tab at Arooga’s, a West King Street bar, at 12:24 a.m. today after the usual bartender wasn’t there to give him a discount on his bill and the one serving him didn’t.
Shippensburg Police was prepared to charge him with theft when his brother came into the bar to pay the suspect’s bill.
With the bill paid, the business declined to prosecute.
There were consequences for the man’s actions, however. He is now banned from the establishment and will be arrested if he returns.
The man’s name was not released by police because he was not criminally charged.
