UPMC Excels in Hip and Knee Replacement Results

UPMC Health Plan has recognized UPMC Community Osteopathic and UPMC Lititz as Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Centers of Excellence. The designation is given to orthopaedic surgeons and facility staff with a record of high-quality patient outcomes, low complication rates, and an outstanding patient experience for patients who need their joints replaced.

“Our teams are committed to providing an exceptional patient experience,” said John Grandrimo, DO. “We strive to be leaders in the delivery of orthopaedic care, and this recognition by UPMC Health Plan is evidence that we are achieving great outcomes for our patients.”

Hip and knee joint replacement are among the most frequently performed orthopaedic surgeries in the United States, but only 15 hospitals in the state of Pennsylvania have been given UPMC Health Plan’s Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Centers of Excellence designation. Recognized physicians and surgical facilities have low complication rates, low hospital readmissions and overall high-quality outcome scores for their patients after joint replacement surgery.

“Knee or hip joint replacement is a major endeavor that affects every aspect of a patient’s life,” said Eric Kutz, DO. “This recognition signals to our patients that they can trust us to help get them back to an active lifestyle.”

Recognized physicians and facilities include:

“UPMC Lititz and UPMC Community Osteopathic’s recognition as Centers of Excellence means that patients can feel confident in selecting our teams to help them back to an active lifestyle,” said Kyle McGill, Executive Administrator for Orthopedics & Spine. “Congratulations to these two teams for providing outstanding orthopaedic care to our central Pennsylvania communities.”
