August is National Breastfeeding Month, a time to recognize the importance of supporting families throughout every stage of their feeding journey. On Aug. 5, UPMC Magee-Womens in Central Pa. hosted a breastfeeding support group at the Giant Food Store Community Center in Camp Hill, bringing mothers and families together.
As part of its year-round commitment to supporting breastfeeding families, UPMC Magee-Womens in Central Pa. offers a free weekly breastfeeding support group that provides education, encouragement and connection for new and expecting parents. Led by UPMC lactation consultants, the group offers expert guidance on common breastfeeding challenges, including latching concerns, milk supply, pumping and returning to work, while creating a supportive environment where families can share experiences and learn from one another.
The support group also highlights the critical role that family, workplace and community support play in helping mothers meet their feeding goals and achieve positive outcomes for both parent and baby. Through programs like these, UPMC is committed to ensuring families have access to the evidence-based resources and compassionate care they need throughout their breastfeeding journey.
