Habitat For Humanity and St John’s United Church of Christ have partnered together to host a used book sale to benefit Habitat’s housing ministry. Over 25,000 books, puzzles, games, and music were donated by the community. Donations for the sale are now closed. The sale will take place at St John’s UCC on March 19 (Saturday) from 9am-4pm and March 20 (Sunday) from 12-4pm. Sunday is “bag day” where items can be purchased by the bagful for one low price.
St John’s is located at 1811 Lincoln Way East in Chambersburg. This is a volunteer led initiative and all proceeds will be used to help build the next Habitat house in Franklin County. Mark D. Story, Community Engagement Director with Habitat notes, “The outpouring of generosity for this sale is extraordinary as are the 50+ volunteers who are presently sorting books and preparing for the sale. A special thanks to Patriot Federal Credit Union for opening up their branches for area residents to drop off their donations. Central to Habitat’s mission is ‘bringing people together’ and we look forward to seeing people do just that at the sale at St John’s.”
