The Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce and its travel club has a message for local residents.

Take a trip to Northern Ireland with the club in May for an experience you won’t soon forget. That’s the word from Lark Kennedy, the Chamber’s communications manager.

She knows. She took a similar trip three years ago after the Chamber Travel Club was first formed.

“It was outstanding,” she said. ”There really isn’t a better way to travel. You get the full experience from the local culture to seeing the famous sites without all the stress.”

Now community residents can have the same experience. They can join 26 local travelers as they venture to Northern Ireland in May to discover castles, sample Irish cuisine and explore picturesque landscapes.

The Chamber and travel club is hosting the eight-day excursion May 1-9. Cathy Folmar and Rhonda DeShong of Dream Vacations are coordinating the trip.

What to Expect If You Go

The trip will include 12 meals and is an estimated $3,200/person double occupancy including airfare.

Those who have already booked the trip are invited to an information session at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Chamber, 100 Lincoln Way East in Chambersburg. Anyone interested in learning more about the trip should arrive by 6:30 p.m.

“We are excited to lead the Chamber Travel Club on another phenomenal journey to Ireland,” said Folmar, franchise owner of Dream Vacations. “Traveling with the Club gives you the excitement of a great adventure along with the peace of mind knowing you’ll be guided by an expert and accompanied by people from home.”

The group will enjoy unique experiences including the Connemara Marble Factory, Aran Islands and Trione Wollen Mills.

In addition to five nights of first-class hotels, the group will enjoy a special two-night stay at Kilronan Castle. Other excursions include seeing St. Patrick’s Centre, Titanic Belfast, Glenveagh Castle.

“This is our second trip back to Ireland and it’s going to be an unforgettable journey for the Club,” Kennedy said.

How the Club Works

Different Chamber member travel agencies organize the trips. A portion of the proceeds supports the Chambersburg Chamber. Kennedy said the travel club has hosted more than 136 travelers since launching in 2017.
