Wagman Construction Wins Prestigious ABC Award

Wagman Construction, a York-based, family-owned company now in its fourth generation, was honored with the 2023 Excellence in Construction Pyramid Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) during the National Awards ceremony held in Kissimmee, Florida, on March 14, 2024. This prestigious recognition is part of an annual event that highlights the nation’s most innovative and high-quality construction projects. Wagman stood out in the General Contractor, Commercial $5 to $10 Million category with its David H. Martin Excavating – Office Expansion and Renovation project in Chambersburg, a project that successfully navigated challenges such as extended material lead times exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project distinguished itself with distinctive industrial finishes, including exposed ceilings, structural steel, interior brick veneer, wood accent walls, and a central open-air, two-level atrium, ultimately exceeding client expectations. In addition to this project, Wagman was also recognized for its work on the DreamWrights Phase II project in York, PA, in the Renovation under $1 Million category at the ABC Keystone’s Excellence in Construction Awards Gala on November 9, 2023. This particular project involved the historic renovation of the DreamWrights Center for Community Arts and faced its own set of challenges, including unforeseen structural conditions that necessitated innovative construction methods.

These awards reflect Wagman’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the construction industry, a sentiment echoed by Jan Wagner, President of Wagman Construction. The Excellence in Construction (EIC) awards honor the collaborative efforts of the entire construction team, including the contractor, owner, architect, and engineer, with projects judged on criteria such as complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, innovation, and safety.
