Warrant issued for shooting suspect
An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in a Monday night shooting in downtown Chambersburg.
Police are looking for Jayluen DeAndre Childs, 25, Chambersburg, in connection with a shooting Monday night in a parking lot at the rear of 93 W. Liberty Street.
Childs was reportedly targeting a specific individual when he ambushed three men at 10:43 p.m. and opened fire.
One man was wounded in the arm, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Chambersburg Hospital, then airlifted to the York Trauma Center for treatment. Police did not identify the victim, who has since been released.
The shooting was an isolated incident, police said. It was limited to specific individuals and does not represent a danger to the community at large.
Childs is wanted on the following charges:
- Attempted homicide, (H1) 1 count;
- Aggravated assault, with the intent to cause bodily harm , 1 count, a first degree felony;
- Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Structures, 1 count, a third degree felony;
- Recklessly Endangering Another Person, 23 counts, second degree misdemeanors.
As of late Friday afternoon, Childs was still at large, police said.
In addition to the above charges related directly to the shooting, Childs is wanted on a second warrant, issued Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Glenn Manns. That warrant is based on a charge of theft of leased property. The charge is a first degree misdemeanor. Online court records indicate the crime took place June 20.
