Hit and run: Waynesboro man seriously injured
A Waynesboro man was seriously injured by a hit and run driver over the weekend as he walked along Tomstown Road in Quincy Township.
Pennsylvania State Police have not released the name of the 58-year-old man, who is in serious condition in the intensive care unit at the University of Maryland Trauma Center. He suffered a broken right arm, injuries to his back and internal injuries.
Police said the vehicle that hit the man fled the scene without stopping to render aid. A Good Samaritan saw the victim laying on the ground behind a guardrail in the 9600 block of Tomstown Road. That person notified police at about 7:23 p.m. after stopping to help.
Investigating troopers discovered a number of vehicle parts at the scene. Police believe the striking vehicle was a gray 2009-2013 GMC 1500 Sierra SLT or 1500 Sierra Denali. It would have damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle, including a broken headlight lens and yellow turn signal.
The vehicle would also have a missing drivers side mirror.
Police are looking for witnesses who might have seen something; or who might see a vehicle matching that description. Anyone with information should contact PSP’s Chambersburg barracks at 717-264-5161.
