COVID-19 vaccinations: WellSpan closing local COVID-19
WellSpan is closing its free COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Chambersburg Mall next month, but the clinic will stop giving first doses of the vaccine next week.
Citing a declining demand for the vaccine, WellSpan announced this week that the clinic will close at the end of the day July 13.
The site, located at the Chambersburg Mall, will stop scheduling new first dose appointments effective June 15, with the last second dose appointments scheduled for July 13.
Beginning June 16, first dose appointments in Franklin County will be scheduled at either WellSpan Family Medicine in Waynesboro or the WellSpan Health Campus’ Patrick O’Donnell Pavilion in Chambersburg.
Walk-in hours will be available, as well as scheduled appointments.
By June 28, all other WellSpan Medical Group practices in Franklin County will make COVID-19 vaccine appointments available.
WellSpan Health opened the joint partnership Community COVID-19 Vaccination Site near Chambersburg in April; as a way to expand access to COVID-19 vaccines across South Central Pennsylvania.
Since opening, The Community COVID-19 Vaccination site has administered nearly 4,000 doses of the vaccine.
Individuals who are still looking to make an appointment, can do so online or by phone.
WellSpan’s vaccination effort also extends deep into local communities. It includes mobile vaccination teams focused on bringing the vaccine to at-risk neighborhoods; homebound patients, and other groups that may experience vaccine hesitancy.
