WellSpan Summer Volunteer Program Concludes with Over 2,500 Hours Served

WellSpan Health has wrapped up its 2025 Summer Volunteer Program, with 34 high school and college students contributing a combined 2,550 hours of service.

The program, which ran during students’ summer break, gave participants the opportunity to support WellSpan team members and patients across the health system.

Carmen DiCiano, manager of cardiac rehabilitation, noted the value of the students’ contributions: “It is quite encouraging to see our emerging future leaders give of their time and talent to help others, even more so when their personal attributes fit so well within the exceptional patient care we seek to provide.”

With the program complete, the students have returned to school, closing out another year of volunteer service that made a lasting impact across the health system.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
