Each summer, WellSpan Health hosts students through its Summer Volunteer Program, giving them opportunities to explore careers in medicine.
This summer, Franklin County student Cameron Bender volunteered at WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital before heading to college to pursue nursing.
Bender, who first considered nursing as a junior in high school, spent her time in the hospital’s Emergency Department. There, she observed the pace of the department, the role of nurses, and their impact on patients and families.
She credited the experience with helping her confirm her decision to pursue a career in nursing and expressed appreciation for the nurses who shared their daily work experiences with her.
