WAYNESBORO – Signs going up at WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital literally point to continued high-quality health care from familiar faces at the 57-bed facility, according to hospital officials.
“The new letters fixed to the hospital are exciting signs for the future of health care in Waynesboro,” said WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Melissa Dubrow. “While signage is changing, patients can expect they will continue to receive the same level of service and high-quality care from the familiar faces they’ve grown to trust.”
The signage change marks the continued progress of the November 2018 affiliation and represents other significant ongoing investments in the patient experience offered locally.
Expansion of services
In an effort to improve patient access, the local system will see expansion of services and locations in Franklin and Cumberland counties as the transition continues.
To better serve patients in Cumberland County, additional specialized medical services will be available in Shippensburg later this summer.
The newly renovated WellSpan Shippensburg Health Campus, located at 97 Progress Blvd., will be home to pulmonology, cardiology, and women’s care. These services are in addition to medical care currently provided in Shippensburg.
Orthopedics and general surgery practices currently in Shippensburg will also move to this new location.
Patients who visit Shippensburg Urgent Care; lab and imaging; rehabilitation; and family medicine will still be seen at the WellSpan Walnut Bottom Road Health Center.
Electronic Health Records system
One of the highest-priority projects to begin since the affiliation was finalized is the expansion of the Epic Electronic Health Records system to WellSpan-Summit entities in Franklin and Cumberland counties.
The project kicked off in April and will take about two years to complete. Once in place, the system will improve patient care coordination, reduce risks through standard workflows and offer better provider-patient communication.
More than 250 health-care organizations nationwide use Epic’s medical records system, according to information from representatives with Epic.
