WellSpan Youth Summit Set for Oct. 24 in York

WellSpan Health will host a free Health Careers Youth Summit on Oct. 24, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at York College of Pennsylvania, 441 Country Club Road in York.

Students will be organized by age group and rotate through interactive stations led by health care professionals. Activities may include operating a da Vinci surgical robot, practicing patient intubation and performing ultrasounds. The summit will introduce students to clinical, technical and support careers.

Participants also will meet WellSpan clinicians and hear from physician panels about education, training and career paths.

Parents can attend sessions covering college admissions, education options and ways to discuss career planning with their children. The sessions will include a take-home workbook, group discussions, a quiz-style game and information from York College’s admissions office.

Abigail Johnson, a student who has participated in previous WellSpan educational events, has explored several medical specialties and developed an interest in anesthesiology. During a previous activity, she used a da Vinci robot to remove candy wrappers, gaining experience with the technology used in patient care.

More information and registration are available through WellSpan Health.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
