William Daniel “Dan” Hulings passed away peacefully on November 11, 2022, at Chambersburg Hospital surrounded by family.
Dan was born in Vandergrift, Pa and moved to Fairless Hills, PA as a young child.
He graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1962. After graduation, Dan enlisted in the Navy and spent his 4 years on a submarine, the USS Picuda (SS-382). After his training in Groton, CT; he was stationed in Key West.
It is very fitting and appropriate that Dan passed away on Veterans Day as he was extremely proud of his service to our country.
Dan spent his civilian career working as a machinist/tool and die maker. He worked for RobRoy Plastics in Morrisville, PA before moving to Chambersburg to work for Nursery Supply.
Dan enjoyed being active and busy. Over his years he enjoyed camping, bowling, skating, riding his motorcycles, going to car races and attending Rolling Thunder to mention a few. He was an avid fan of the Phillies and Flyers.
Dan also enjoyed yard work and volunteering at Chambersburg Hospital where he accrued 8000 hours of volunteer time. His volunteer friends referred to him as Dr. D. Dan also volunteered at the Cold Weather Drop-in Shelter and enjoyed working security assignments for P2 Investigations.
Dan belonged to many organizations. He was a member of the Fairless Hills Masonic Lodge #776, Kensington-Kadosh Commandery #54, Mercer Council Princes of Jerusalem, Knights of the Mecca Shrine Club Cresent Temple and Scottish Rite to name a few.
Additionally, Dan was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring and the United States Submarine Service Veterans Tri-State Base.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Billy D. and Mary Jane Hulings, a brother Sam, and his wife Donna J. Hulings.
Surviving are brother Randy Hulings (wife Sue), sister Janie Jones, (husband Jack) and beloved daughter Danielle Hulings, grandson Joshua Rubin, companion Debra Stewart and 2 cats (Archie and Samantha).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 1 p.m. in the afternoon.
A Masonic Service will be held before the Celebration of Life Service beginning at 12:45 p.m.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Sellers Funeral Home.
