GREENCASTLE: Windows Still Available for Old Home Week Displays

Old Home Week: Window Displays Great Way to Get Involved

Anyone thinking about setting up a window display for Old Home Week, but concerned about missing the deadline, can be reassured that the committee is still accepting registration forms.

According to Bill Gour, the chair of the window display committee, forms can be returned to him as late as this Thursday (August 4): “the committee will not be judging the displays until Saturday morning, so anyone who registers by Thursday should still have time to set up a display.”

Gour and the other members of the committee, Larisa Martin, Bob O’Connor, Amy Hicks, Nathan Nardi, Canaan Gour, and Landon Gour, will begin judging windows at 9:00 the morning of the 6th.

Categories and Prizes

There are six categories under which to register: History; Our Community; Our Heroes; Clothing and Household Items; Toys and Games; and Collectibles.  First place in each category will receive $150; $100 will go to second place.  A grand prize winner will receive $300.

Displays will be placed in storefront windows in downtown Greencastle and remain throughout Old Home Week, which runs from August 6 to 13.  The Greencastle-Antrim community celebration has been held every three years since the Old Boys Reunion of 1902.
