FRANKLIN COUNTY (March 8) — It’s snowing again, but today’s accumulation of the frozen precipitation will add less than an inch to this winter’s total.
The good news is that we might see more spring like weather by Sunday.
That’s the word from National Weather Service forecasters, who are calling for a high if 61 degrees that day.
Here’s what they are calling for:
This Afternoon light snow is likely, mainly before 5pm. That is already happening.
It was 34 and cloudy as of 1 p.m., but we could gain another degree or two of warmth before the day is done. The chance of precipitation this afternoon is is 70%.
The total daytime snow accumulation will probably be less than a half inch.
Tonight there will be a chance of light snow before 7 followed by patchy fog after 9. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 28 and a southeast wind around 5 miles an hour.
Chance of precipitation is 30 percent tonight. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Saturday will warm up a bit with a high of 42 with patchy fog early in the morning.
Once the fog burns off, it should be partly sunny, with a high near 42.S
Saturday Night will bring between half and three quarters of an inch of rain (NO snow if the predicted 36 degrees holds.)
Sunday could be the turning point as we edge closer to spring.
Forecasters say the first day of Daylight Savings Time will dawn partly sunny. The high should reach 61 if forecasters are right.
Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead an hour on Saturday night.
