Rainy conditions did not stop the Shippensburg University women’s outdoor track & field team from the Jim Thorpe Invitational. This was their final meet of the season. The Raiders were guests at Penn State University.

What Happened
SU’s competition consisted entirely of field events, with the throwers having the busiest day.
Madisen Kling paced the Raiders in the shot (36 feet, 4 ¼ inches), the discus (130 feet, 8 inches) and hammer (130 feet, 11 inches). Nicola Puggé; was the Raider pacesetter in the javelin.
Deja Winkler and ShanAnn Simmons had marks close behind Kling in the shot. Winkler’s best shot put traveled 36 feet, 3 inches, while Simmons’ best was 35 feet, 9 ¼ inches.
Norah Vallon competed indoors due to the weather and got over the high jump bar at 5 feet, 1 inch, which resulted in a tie for third place. It equals her season best and career best.
In the pole vault, also contested indoors due to the weather, Ashlee Newton cleared 10 feet, 2 inches.
