The wrestling team at Shippensburg returned and was back on the mat Thursday night at Koehler Fieldhouse. This was the first competition in 46 days, the Raiders claimed two bouts in a 35-9 dual meet loss at East Stroudsburg. This was a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Division II dual meet.
How it happened
Two wrestlers making their Shippensburg University debuts claimed the Raider victories on the night.
At 133 pounds, Tyshawn White scored a victory by fall 15 seconds into the third period. White, a midseason transfer, notched the pin in his debut match for Shippensburg.
At 174 pounds, Nyiem Flucas (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) won his collegiate debut with a 4-0 decision over Sergio Cespedes. Flucas, who redshirted as a freshman back in 2019-20, was able to suit up for the first time as a Raider and did not yield a point in his victorious decision.
ESU claimed three weight classes due to forfeit and scored bonus points at three other weight classes – achieving a pin and two major decisions. Neither team had an available wrestler at heavyweight.
