Drew Dailey from Shippensburg University was named Thursday to the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-District 2 ® Track & Field/Cross Country Team, an award that recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance in sport and in the classroom.
Dailey is an academic senior who is double-majoring in supply chain management and finance. He entered the spring semester with a 3.41 cumulative grade-point average (GPA).
Outdoors, Dailey is a NCAA Championships qualifier who will be competing this week in the 800 meters after enhancing his school record to 1:48.67 back in April at the Bucknell Team Challenge. At the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, Dailey successfully defended his conference championships in both the 800 meters (1:51.06) and the 1,500 meters (3:53.79), becoming the first Raider to win multiple conference titles in the 1,500 meters since John Somers won in 2003 and 2005.
Indoors, Dailey was named the PSAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. He won the PSAC Indoor Championships Most Valuable Athlete award for the second straight year by winning the PSAC championship in the mile, anchoring the distance medley relay to a PSAC championship, running on the 4×400-meter relay that won a PSAC championship, and finishing second in the 800 meters. His top marks on the season included a PR and school record in the 800 meters of 1:50.88.
In the fall in cross country, Dailey was a frequent scoring runner for a Raider squad that finished fourth at the Atlantic Region Championships and second at the PSAC Championships. During the 2020 cross country season that was held in the spring of 2021 due to the pandemic, Dailey earned All-PSAC First Team honors with a ninth-place finish at the conference championships.
