The Mansfield Mountaineers defeated Shippensburg’s Raiders 70-50 Wednesday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) road matchup at Decker Gymnasium.
The Shippensburg University women’s basketball team could not overcome a slow start as the Raiders dropped the game to opponent Mansfield, 70-50.
How it happened
Shippensburg (7-6, 3-4 PSAC) trailed by four points at halftime as Mansfield (5-7, 4-4) limited the Raiders to 28% shooting from the field. The Mountaineers led by nine points at the end of the third quarter and used a 12-4 run at the start of the fourth quarter to pull away.

Senior Destiny Jefferson (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton (West Chester)) was the lone Raider in double figures with 13 points. She was 5-of-8 from the free throw line and added six rebounds.
Freshman Taja Colbert (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and sophomore Treasure George (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) both scored eight points and combined for five assists. Colbert was 2-of-2 at the free-throw line.
Junior Aunbrielle Green (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) was the leading rebounder with eight on the night; she scored five points and had one block. Junior Aunbrielle Green (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) contributed seven points and four rebounds.
Mansfield shot 44% from the field, including 53% in the second half, and posted a 50-36 rebound advantage. The Mountaineers totaled 24 assists compared to 14 turnovers and were led by Jasmine Hilton, who scored a game-high 29 points on 13-of-17 shooting.
Saturday’s game with East Stroudsburg has been postponed due to health and safety precautions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference office re-scheduled the game for 7 p.m. Monday (Jan. 17) at Heiges Field House.
