CVAS pets of the week: Meet Pooh Bear and Crystal

Meet

Meet Pooh Bear and Crystal, this week’s CVAS pets of the week.

Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, the county’s premier shelter for homeless animals, has many residents that would love to meet prospective “fur”ever families.

Pooh Bear and Crystal are just a few of the amazing animals residing at area animal shelters. Some are orphaned or given up for adoption for various reasons. Others have been abandoned or were strays.

CVAS encourages anyone interested in bringing a four-legged friend into their home to check out the wonderful animals available for adoption at the shelter.

They now need a second chance in loving, stable homes. They make wonderful pets and loving companions when they finally do find permanent, loving and stable homes.

Pets find themselves homeless for a wide variety of reasons, in need of a new home and a second chance. So, if you are looking for a new furry best friend, check out the shelter’s many residents. Any of them would make a great pet and wonderful companion.

Go to the Animal Shelter link to see all their residents and meet Pooh Bear and Crystal while you are there.

Changing rules for adoptions

The shelter has pretty well been on lockdown during the Covid pandemic with adoptions taking place by appointment only, but that is about to change.

In June the shelter’s cattery opened to visitors looking to adopt one of CVAS’s homeless cat residents. Now you can go in and meet Crystal and see if she would fit in your family.

You can only view dogs by appointment with an approved application until they can become acclimated to visitors.

Hours to visit the CATS are: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

CVAS asks visitors to wear face masks to protect staff members.

For more information, call the shelter at 717-263-5791. To see animals available for adoption, log onto CVAS’s webpage here.

Thanks to Supporters, adopters

CVAS’s Communications Director Jennifer Vandrerau sends the following message to shelter supporters and donors:

“THANKS TO EVERYONE who helped keep the shelter going through this crazy year; and for understanding we are slowly working our way back to being open like we were before. Our supporters and adopters are the lifeblood of this organization and we APPRECIATE each and every one of you.”

Pets find themselves homeless for a wide variety of reasons, in need of a new home and a second chance. Some of their stories are heartbreaking.

And now meet Meet Pooh Bear and Crystal, this week’s featured pets at CVAS.

Meet Pooh Bear

Meet Pooh Bear and Crystal

Pooh Bear was surrendered to the shelter because his owner could no longer care for him. He’s an 11-year-old terrier mix who just wants someone to cuddle.

Pooh Bear has had a dental cleaning and he’s doing quite well. He’s a sweet older fellow who loves attention and just wants to be close to his people. He has not been around children so an age restriction for children in the home may apply, so please discuss this with shelter staff.

Pooh Bear enjoys napping under warm blankets. He can be a little vocal at times, so potential adopters should be aware of this.

Pooh Bear sure would like to find a place he could cuddle in his golden years.

Meet Crystal

Crystal came into the shelter at the end of June this year when she was only 3 months old. She loves attention and loves to play but is growing up in a shelter.

We want her to find a place of her own so she can know what a forever home is all about.

Could you give Crystal that?
