PSP: Mercersburg woman injured in crash
A Mercersburg woman was seriously injured Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in Montgomery Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Stephanie T. Toms, 52, was taken to WellSpan York Hospital by helicopter following the 1:12 p.m. crash at the intersection of Shimpstown and Fort Loudon Roads. Her condition was not available from the hospital Wednesday.
She was a passenger in a 2007 Nissan Versa driven by Ricky S. Toms, 66, also of Mercersburg.
Police said the Toms car was hit by a Jeep Wrangler driven by Jennifer F. Mathna, 25, of Fayetteville. Both Mathna and Ricky Toms had minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Mathna was traveling east on Shimpstown Road when she ran a stop sign and her Jeep hit the passenger side of Toms car, which was southbound on Fort Loudon Road, police said.
Mathna lost control of the Jeep and it rolled onto its passenger side, coming to rest on the roadway facing mostly east. The Toms car came to rest on the south shoulder of Shimpstown facing east. Mathna received a citation for running the stop sign, police said.
