Franklin County Commissioners: Nursing scholarships offered
Franklin County high school seniors interested in pursuing a nursing career can apply for one of six $2,500 scholarships offered by county commissioners this year. The scholarship program is now in its 5th year.
“There’s an extraordinary demand for skilled nurses in the area,” said Chairman Commissioner Dave Keller. “This scholarship is one way that Franklin County can help to meet that need.”
The 2021 Franklin County Nursing Scholarship is open to all high school seniors living and attending high school for at least one consecutive year in Franklin County. Another requirement is acceptance into an accredited four-year nursing program to qualify.
The deadline for applying for the nursing scholarships is Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.
Applications must include essays briefly indicating applicants short and long term goals as they pertain to nursing school.
Application requirements include letters of recommendation from each applicant’s high school guidance counselor, as well as two other adults. Every applicant must also submit a copy of their official transcript. Students needing financial assistance will receive stronger consideration. .
