Shippensburg University football captain Trey Paul is the latest member of Shippensburg University’s football team to receive a prestigeous award this year.

Paul is now a member of the 2020-21 Division II Super Region One Academic All-District ® Team. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Paul is an academic senior and a finance major who possesses a 3.77 cumulative grade-point average (GPA). As a starting defensive back, he is one of the 2020 team’s captains.

In 21 career games (12 starts), he has totaled 100 career tackles (61 solo), including 3.0 tackles-for-loss (TFLs). He also has one career interception and eight official pass breakups. In 2019, Paul ranked second on the team with 61 tackles (42 solo).

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selects the Academic All-District ® Team. For the 2020-21 team, career statistics were used in place of season statistics because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paul is one of 24 honorees from Super Region One (PSAC, MEC, G-MAC, NE-10) who are now eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America ® Team that will be announced July 13.
