SU women's soccer: Season finale brings Raiders victory

The season finale for Shippensburg University women’s soccer team brought with it a victory over the Mansfield Mounties. It marked the Raiders third shutout of the season.

The team won 2-0 Wednesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match played at Karl Van Norman Field.

Shippensburg (5-11-1, 5-9-1 PSAC East) and Mansfield (1-13-2, 0-12-2) played to a scoreless first half, marking the third straight match in which neither the Raiders nor their opponent scored in the opening 45 minutes.

In the 60th minute, senior Kelli Dunagan (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) sent a cross that was finished by sophomore Abbi Czarnecki (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) for her second goal of the season.

Less than ten minutes later, Dunagan recorded a second assist, sending a pass to senior K.K. O’Donnell (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford) for a goal. This marks Dunagan’s second career multi-assist match – both coming this season against Mansfield.

Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Molyneaux (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) made seven saves to record her first career victory and shutout. Mansfield goalkeeper Stephanie Moir made 10 saves.

The win pushes Shippensburg’s win streak over Mansfield to eight straight matches. Dunagan recorded assists on all four Raider goals scored against the Mountaineers.

O’Donnell finishes the season with a team-high and career-high six goals.

Shippensburg posted three shutouts this season and held opponents to one goal or less in 10 of its 18 matches.
