Both Shippensburg’s men’s and women’s soccer teams lost games to the West Chester’s Golden Rams Saturday at West Chester’s Rockwell Field.
Men’s Soccer falls at West Chester, 4-0
The Shippensburg University men’s soccer team was shut out for just the second time this season on Saturday, falling 4-0 at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Chester.
Shippensburg (4-9-3, 2-9-0 PSAC East) managed just three shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Ryan Glenlast (Lancaster, Pa./Pequea Valley) made six saves in 79 minutes of action, while freshman Cody Willoughby (York, Pa./York SSuburban) worked the final 11 minutes in goal.
West Chester (9-2-2, 8-2-1) scored in the seventh minute when Doug Goitia converted off a Josh Daniels assist. Then, Kresstoph Whittick finished a Tomas Hanvey pass for a 2-0 first half lead.
Playing a man up in the second half, Craig Potts increased the lead off Hanvey’s second assist of the match. The final goal was a penalty kick in the 83rd minute on Connor Sullivan’s first collegiate goal.
Women’s Soccer drops 2-0 decision
Barlow makes 12 saves for the Raiders
The Shippensburg University women’s soccer team lost 2-0 on Saturday at No. 21 West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at Rockwell Field.
Shippensburg (4-11-1, 4-9-1 PSAC East) sophomore goalkeeper Kendra Barlow (Painesville, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) had 12 saves – her fourth double digit save performance of the season.
After nearly 60 minutes of scoreless soccer, West Chester (11-2-1, 11-2-1) got a penalty kick goal from Rebecca Margolis. Almost a minute later, Kaitlyn Haughey scored off a Julia Raybold pass.
Shippensburg’s men will host Lock Haven at 6 p.m. Saturday for Senior Day at David See Field.
Shippensburg’s women will play their last home match of the season at 4 p.m. Monday against Shepherd at David See Field.
