Dave Sweeney, of Ft. Loudon, is D.L, Martin Co. Employee of the Month for November. He has worked for the company for 21 years. He is a Machine Operator, Assembler and Lead Person in Building 4.
His supervisor, Dakota Carmack, is the Operations Manager who has been with the D.L. Martin Co. for 6 years.
Sweeney suggested employees mill the 45° angle on the Mazak HCN-10800 Horizontal Machining Center when the holes are drilled and bored. That eliminates grinding a 45° angle on reaction pivot components on MMR reaction bar weldments. The angle allows the components to pivot at final assembly.
In addition, he suggested ordering nameplates from the supplier with the required data already etched on them. That eliminates the slow process and poor quality resulting from manually etching data on various nameplates for spring buffers.
